Environmental sustainability lies at the core of our operations. Wrapall Packagings is actively involved in recycling initiatives in Australia and were one of the first market participants in our field to sign up to the Australian Packaging Covenant. In fact, Wrapall has been recognised with industry awards for our commitment to sustainability.
1. Raw material Inputs
We source materials with the right combination of virgin and recycled content depending on end use. When sourcing paper, we will only source from mills that are FSC certified. All of the external packaging for raw materials are used by Wrapall or recycled. When selecting suppliers, we consider:
• The material sources
• Supplier ethics
• Environmental and human health impacts
2. Packaging design
We work with our customers to optimize packaging design. Not only do we meet their needs, but we also ensure that our designs are environmentally responsible eg. The types of ink colours that are used.
3. Packaging manufacture
There is virtually zero waste in our packaging manufacturing. All of the by-products from our manufacturing are recycled.
4. Logistics
Where possible, we ensure that our products are despatched into a relatively simple supply chain. We also ensure that we fully utilise pallet spaces, thereby minimising the number of trucks on the road that are transporting our products.
5. Retail
We ensure that the packaging material on our consumer retail products is recyclable
6. Use
We actively support newsprint recycling campaigns. Australia has the best newsprint recovery and recycling rate in the world (78% in 2013). This is ahead of the United States and European countries.
7. End of Use
All of our products are recyclable and can add value at the end-of-life through recycling.
